Panthers finish third in Mid-State

Calvin Bateman and Jeff Dickinson won the title at No. 1 doubles to lead the Park Rapids boys tennis team at Thursday's Mid-State Conference tournament at the Depot Courts.

     Calvin Bateman and Jeff Dickinson won the title at No. 1 doubles to lead the Park Rapids boys tennis team at Thursday’s Mid-State Conference tournament at the Depot Courts.

     Bateman and Dickinson defeated Detroit Lakes’ Brady Crawford and Dylan Bremseth 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 and received a forfeit win against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle to account for half of the Panthers’ 4 points. Iain Wallace and Nick Porozinski prevailed in straight sets at No. 3 doubles against LPGE while Jackson Kimball and Jaden Olson received a forfeit win at No. 2 doubles against LPGE.

     Detroit Lakes claimed the conference title with 12 points while LPGE tallied 5 points in this three-team tournament.

 

Team scores: Detroit Lakes 12, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 5, Park Rapids 4.

Bobby Bruce (No. 2 singles): lost to Caleb Howard, DL, 6-3, 6-4; lost to Trevor Bergmann, LPGE, 6-0, 6-0.

Marcus McKeever (No. 3 singles): lost to Chandler Hanks, DL, 6-2, 6-3; lost to Ryan Welters, LPGE, 3-6, 6-1, 10-3.

Tristan Hendrickson (No. 4 singles): lost to Austin Nelson, DL, 6-4, 6-2; lost to Dan Bachmeier, LPGE, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.
