Rilee Michaelson hit a jump shot and scored on a layup and Paige Johnson hit three free throws as the Park Rapids girls basketball team ended the game on a 7-0 run to open the season with a 50-45 victory at Barnesville on Thursday night (Nov. 29).
Michaelson finished with 18 points and nine rebounds while Kaisa Coborn added 17 points, eight assists and six steals. Johnson pulled down seven rebounds for the Panthers, who overcame a 1-for-12 performance on 3-pointers by forcing 24 turnovers.
Claire Meyer and Kim Maesse scored 10 points apiece for Barnesville, which made only 2 of 13 3-pointers.
