Winning two three-set matches in doubles proved to be the difference as the Park Rapids girls tennis team remained undefeated in Mid-State Conference dual meets with a 4-3 win over Wadena-Deer Creek at Wadena on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Hannah Morgan coasted to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while Shailynn Hayes and Abby Runyan posted a straight-set win at No. 3 doubles for Park Rapids. The host Wolverines won the other singles matches, including a three-set win at the No. 3 spot, to claim a 3-2 lead.
Park Rapids pulled off the victory as Cassidy Bera and Morgan Koppelman prevailed 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and Abby Morris and Macy Goochey rallied for a marathon 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
The win lifted the Panthers to 2-0 in MId-State matches and 4-1 overall while W-DC fell to 1-3 in conference matches.
The Panthers will host Staples-Motley in another conference meet at the Depot Courts on Thursday (Sept. 10) starting at 4:30 p.m.
