Let's Go Fishing (LGF) Minnesota is celebrating its 20th anniversary this summer!
Started in Willmar in 2002, founder Joe Holm shared with his wife, Carolyn, his dream to help enrich the lives of senior citizens.
With fond memories of growing up with a fishing pole and always having a heart for seniors and an undying passion for the water, Joe wanted to create an organization that would provide fishing and boating outings to seniors. The first chapter was formed with the help of friends that shared his passion for helping people and loved the water.
Now, in 2022, there are 17 local chapters with 21 pontoons.
Over the past 20 years, 1,500 volunteers have served over 200,000 people.

In Park Rapids, the Let's Go Fishing Headwaters Chapter has been cruising now for over 10 years.
We operate a 28-foot pontoon boat and provide several cruises a week from June through August.
Picture this: A day at the lake, on a pontoon, catching a fish or two, and creating wonderful memories. These are just some of the great benefits our guests and volunteers enjoy through the Let’s Go Fishing program.
We serve senior citizens groups and individuals, nursing homes, assisted living centers, veterans, widows and widowers, social service agencies, disabled adults, church groups, adult day care centers and youth.
Each excursion is approximately two hours.
There is no cost to participants.
Last summer, Fish Hook River and Fish Hook Lake was our destination in June. July found us plying the waters of Long Lake, and in August, we explored the nooks and crannies of Big Mantrap Lake.
Our volunteers are invaluable resources that give their time and expertise to support the mission of Let's Go Fishing. The power of volunteerism can positively impact the lives of others. Thanks to each and every volunteer working with our Let’s Go Fishing program!

As we get ready for another season, we are always in need of more volunteers to staff our pontoon rides. If you would like to be a part of our volunteer corps, you can register online on our website: headwaters.lgfws.com. After you are cleared and put in the system, you can volunteer for a trip when you are available. There is no commitment to register.
We are supported entirely by donations and fundraisers.
Enjoy our beautiful lakes this summer and cruise with us!
