Elliott Nichols and Jordan Odor won individual events for the Park Rapids boys swimming and diving team at the Last Chance Invitational at the Area High School pool on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Nichols led the field in the 100-yard butterfly with a winning time of 59.52 while Odor finished first in the 500 freestyle in 5:36.89 as the shorthanded Panthers placed fourth with 353.50 points. Bemidji won the team title with 572.50 points while Perham/New York Mills (444) and Detroit Lakes (442) followed.
Odor added a runner-up time of 2:04.66 in the 200 freestyle while Jacob Zinniel finished second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.08. Cameron Runyan, Nichols, Isaac Zinniel and Odor also took second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:54.14.
Placing third for the Panthers were Isaac Zinniel, Jacob Zinniel, Nichols and Runyan in the 200 medley relay (1:59.23) along with Nichols, Jacob Zinniel, Leo Kaufenberg and Odor in the 200 freestyle relay (1:45.49). Runyan in diving (293.20 points) and in the 50 freestyle (26.27) and Isaac Zinniel in the 100 backstroke (1:07.11) also took third.
Turning in the Panthers’ other top finishes were Isaac Zinniel in the 200 individual medley (fourth in 2:30.97) and Jacob Zinniel in the 100 freestyle (fifth in 1:00.01).

Bemidji wins dual
Bemidji won nine of the 12 events, including going 1-2 in six of them, in posting a 118-60 victory over the Panthers in a dual meet at Bemidji on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Park Rapids opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:58.51 with Runyan, Isaac Zinniel, Nichols and Odor comprising that unit. Nichols won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.91 and Isaac Zinniel took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.19 for the Panthers’ other winning efforts.
Placing second for the Panthers were Isaac Zinniel in the 200 individual medley (2:28.95) and Odor in the 500 freestyle (5:44.14).
Park Rapids concluded its dual-meet schedule with a 3-4 record.
