Hannah Bliss had 44 points and 24 rebounds as the Nevis girls basketball team split Northwoods Conference games.
Bliss’ 23 points and 15 rebounds led the Tigers to a 64-49 win over Cass Lake Thursday night. Bliss followed with 21 points and nine rebounds as the Tigers lost to Clearbrook-Gonvick 65-47 Friday night.
Nevis is now 2-2 in conference play.

Bliss also led the Tigers with three assists and three steals in the win over Cass Lake.
Becca Nelson added 11 points and three steals while Emma Bliss grabbed 12 rebounds in that game as Cass Lake fell to 0-1 in the conference and 0-4 overall.
“I was happy with the overall performance the girls put together,” said Nevis head coach Mike Lien, whose team led 34-14 at the half. “I was thrilled with our defensive effort. Any time we hold an opponent to under 20 points in a half is considered an accomplishment for us.”

Tigers fall to Clearbrook-Gonvick

Jordyn Lucas scored 10 points and Emma Bliss grabbed 14 rebounds in the Tigers’ loss to Clearbrook-Gonvick.
Jordyn Lucas led the Tigers with four assists and three steals while Ruby Vedbraaten also had three steals for the Tigers, who trailed 41-27 at the half.
C-G improved to 1-0 in the conference and 3-2 overall.
“I was proud of the girls in regards to effort and hustle plays. We were on the floor diving and hustling for loose balls, which is always encouraging,” said Lien. “Turnovers were the name of the game for us again as we coughed it up 34 times. If we could find a way to limit the turnovers, we might be 4-0 instead of 2-2.”
