Nevis’ defense forced 52 turnovers as the Tigers coasted to an 80-22 Northwoods Conference girls basketball victory at Laporte on Friday, Dec. 12.
A 3-pointer by Emily Funk and jumpers by Ava Isaacson, Makenna Frazier and Kayli Bessler gave the Tigers a 10-0 lead. Two layups and a 3-pointer by Addison Lindow, two layups by Isaacson, and two jumpers by Funk pushed the lead to 31-9 before two inside baskets by Lindow and layups by Frazier and Funk gave Nevis a 42-11 advantage at the break.
Baskets by Kia Heide, Frazier, Isaacson and Lindow to start the second half extended the lead to 50-11. The Tigers led 55-17 before closing the game with a 25-5 run with Mya Stacey’s pair of layups and pair of jumpers and Heide’s two layups leading the way.
Lindow (16), Isaacson (15), Stacey (12), Funk (11) and Frazier (10) led a balanced scoring attack while Isaacson led the way with seven rebounds. Lindow dished out five assists and had four steals while Frazier and Isaacson had five steals apiece. Stacey also had four steals as the Tigers had 31 steals in the game.
Nevis improved to 1-2 in the conference and 1-3 overall while Laporte fell to 0-5 in conference games.
