Taylor Chase's 27 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals sparked the Nevis boys basketball team to a 71-61 Northland Conference win at Cass Lake last Thursday night.
Jake Keranen added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals while Gavin Becker had 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
"This was a good win for us on the road," said Nevis head coach Scott Kramer, whose team improved to 3-0. "Cass Lake lost a number of players from last year's team, but I thought we did a nice job of controlling the game. We were not very consistent, but we were able to get some good looks at the basket and also were able to score against their press."
Taylor Chase's 26 points, six assists and three steals led the Tigers to a 75-60 win over Bertha-Hewitt on Dec. 4.
Courtland Chase added 14 points, nine rebounds and two steals while Keranen had 12 points and seven rebounds. Becker chipped in 11 points while Jordan Feder scored 9 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Tigers, who led 39-27 at the half.

"This was a big road win in the section for us," said Kramer. "We have not had a lot of success at Bertha, but we were able to come out and take control of the game midway through the first half and put it away with a 12-2 run to start the second half."
