Gavin Becker led the Nevis boys basketball team in scoring as the Tigers avenged two Northland Conference losses.
Becker had 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists in leading Nevis to a 69-62 win at Blackduck last Friday night. Blackduck defeated the Tigers 61-58 earlier in the season.
At Nevis Tuesday night, Becker's 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals led the Tigers to a 68-52 win over Kelliher-Northome. K-N defeated Nevis 85-68 earlier in the season.
The two wins give Nevis sole possession of second place in the conference standings with a 10-4 record. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley is 11-1.
In the win over Blackduck, Taylor Chase added 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals while Griffin Chase and Jake Keranen scored 9 points each. Keranen also had eight rebounds while Jordan Dudley had four steals.

"This was a huge win for us on the road and in conference play," said Nevis head coach Scott Kramer, whose team led 35-31 at the half. "The difference in the game was how we played defense and won the battle on the glass."
Dudley scored a career-high 20 points while Taylor Chase had 11 points and six assists in the win over Kelliher-Northome. Keranen added seven rebounds and two steals, Courtland Chase had four rebounds and Griffin Chase had three assists for the Tigers, who led 30-24 at the half.
"It was Senior Night in Nevis and the seniors went out on a high note. We got off to a slow start, but made a nice run to end the half. After trading baskets to start the second half, we went on a nice run and increased the lead to double figures and never looked back," said Kramer, whose team improved to 15-7. "I am really pleased with the way that we have been playing down the stretch. We are playing much better defensively and we are now doing a better job of rebounding the ball and limiting the other teams' second chances."
