Nevis baseball team routs Northome-Kelliher

The Tigers belted out 14 hits in the 17-6 victory.

The Nevis baseball team rebounded from two losses with a 17-6 Northland Conference win over Northome-Kelliher at Nevis on Friday, May 21.

N-K scored a run in the first before Nevis responded by scoring eight times on doubles by Cain Mitchell and Tyler Lindow, a single by Derek Lindow, a two-run triple by Dan Aman, a sacrifice fly by Ethan Klimek and an RBI single by Dawson McGee.

A triple by Ward Davis, singles by Ian Ahrendt and Mitchell, and a two-run single by Tyler Lindow sparked a four-run second inning as the Tigers led 9-1.

After N-K scored twice in the third, the Tigers scored their final five runs in the bottom of that inning on singles by Davis and Reese Kline, an RBI single by Ahrendt, and a two-run single by Eli Klimek.

The Mustangs concluded the scoring by scoring twice in the fourth and once in the fifth.

Nevis finished with 14 hits with Mitchell (2 for 3, three runs), Tyler Lindow (2 for 3), Aman (2 for 3, three RBI), Davis (2 for 2, two runs) and Ahrendt (2 for 2, three runs) leading the way. Davis earned the win, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out four in three innings. Eli Klimek pitched the final two innings, giving up two earned runs on one hit with five walks.

The Tigers improved to 10-0 in the conference and 14-3 overall while N-K fell to 3-5 in conference play and 3-10 overall.

Sebeka shuts down Tigers' offense

Spencer Lake threw a three-hitter and allowed one unearned run in leading Sebeka to a 4-1 win over the Tigers at Sebeka on Thursday, May 20.

Ethan Klimek went 2 for 3 to lead the Tigers’ offense. Derek Lindow took the loss, allowing five hits while striking out 10. Sebeka scored single runs in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings while Nevis scored its lone run in the sixth.

The Trojans improved to 4-0 against Section 5A teams and 11-5 overall. Nevis fell to 7-1 against section opponents.
