Midway improved to 9-2 on the season by routing Dent 16-4 and defeating Perham 7-1 in a pair of recent amateur baseball games.
All 10 players contributed a hit as the Snurdbirds pounded out 18 hits against Dent. Midway scored six runs in the second inning, four runs in the third and two runs in the fifth in building a 12-0 lead.
Sam Beck went 3 for 5 while Preston Riewer went 2 for 3 with a home run, four runs scored and five RBI to lead Midway’s offense. Chris Baso (2 for 6), Ray Muller (2 for 5),Brett Dormanen (2 for 5, two runs), Levi Schwartz (2 for 3, two runs) and Alex White (2 for 4, three runs) also had multiple hits while Stetson Burkman (1 for 4), Sam Champa (1 for 2) and Ike Kyllonen (1 for 5) rounded out Midway’s offensive attack.
Burkman was the winning pitcher.
The Snurdbirds were limited to seven hits in a 7-4 Lake & Pine League loss to Nimrod at Menahga on July 2.

Beck hit a two-run homer in the first to give Midway a 2-0 lead before the Gnats rallied by scoring three runs in the fourth and twice in the fifth to claim a 7-3 lead.
Baso went 2 for 5 with a run and an RBI while John Dormanen (1 for 4), Mueller (1 for 5), Cooper Heimark (1 for 2 with an RBI) and Burkman (1 for 3) led Midway’s offense.
Burkman took the loss in that game as Midway fell to 6-2 in Lake & Pine League play.
Beck went 4 for 5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in leading the Snurdbirds past Perham.
Burkman (3 for 5), Zach Etter (2 for 5, one run), John Dormanen (2 for 5 with a solo homer) Riewer (1 for 5), Baso (1 for 5, one run) and Brett Dormanen (1 for 4, one run) rounded out Midway’s 14-hit attack. Midway scored three runs in both the fifth and ninth innings to improve to 8-2 against Region 14C teams.
John Dormanen picked up the win, allowing one run over five innings. Etter pitched the final four innings for the save.
Midway will travel to New York Mills on Friday (July 16) and will host Verndale on Saturday (July 17).
