Melrose/Sauk Centre defeats Panthers in dual

Melrose/Sauk Centre took first in nine of the first 10 events in a 107-74 victory over the Park Rapids boys swimming and diving team Tuesday night at Melrose.

     Melrose/Sauk Centre took first in nine of the first 10 events in a 107-74 victory over the Park Rapids boys swimming and diving team Tuesday night at Melrose.

     MSC went 1-2 in three events and 1-2-3 in two events in building a 107-49 lead before swimming exhibition in the final two events.

     Tyler Breitweser, Hunter Utke, Andrew Zinke and Matt Konshok opened the meet with a runner-up time of 1:59.52 in the 200-yard medley relay.

     After MSC went 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle and 1-2 in the 200 individual medley, Konshok clocked a runner-up 24.82 in the 50 freestyle before Spencer Fritze (with 206.75 points) and Breitweser (with 191.45 points) went 1-2 in diving.

     MSC then went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle and 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle before winning the 200 freestyle relay and 100 backstroke.

     Konshok, Utke, Fritze and Matt Benson clocked a runner-up 1:41.45 in the 200 freestyle relay while Breitweser finished second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.00.

     Utke took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.66 while Benson, Zach Behrens, Breitweser and Fritze ended the meet with a winning time of 3:52.01 in the 400 freestyle relay.
