Jordan McCollum joined an elite group when the Park Rapids boys basketball team defeated Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 71-70 last Tuesday at Walker.
McCollum scored 15 points to become the sixth player in the history of the Park Rapids boys basketball program to surpass 1,000 career points. McCollum scored 11 points in the Panthers’ 58-56 win over Wadena-Deer Creek Friday night to raise his career total to 1,012 points.
As a sophomore, McCollum scored 191 points (7.1 points per game) and followed with a team-leading 409 points (15.1 per game) last season as a junior. Through 22 games this season, the senior guard has a team-leading 401 points (19.1 per game). McCollum, who has made 125 3-pointers in his career, scored 38 points against Roseau earlier this season to claim the No. 3 spot for points in a game in school history.
McCollum joins Grant Dierkhising (1,474 points), John Dailey (1,306), Jay Schmidt (1,262), Brady Zubke (1,262) and Zac Wolff (1,002) on the Panthers’ 1,000-point scoring club.
