Greenway closed the game with a 14-4 run to claim a 50-40 victory over the Nevis girls basketball team at Greenway on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Nevis jumped out to an early 10-5 lead behind a layup and two inside baskets by Makenna Frazier and a jumper by Ava Isaacson. Greenway responded with an 8-0 run for a 13-10 edge before Isaacson scored off a rebound and Emily Funk converted a layup to give the Tigers a 15-14 lead. A 3-pointer by Mackenzie Mitchell and a layup by Frazier kept the Tigers within 24-21 at the half.
Two layups and a jumper by Isaacson, a layup by Funk, a jumper and basket off a rebound by Frazier, and a 3-pointer by Funk enabled Nevis to tie the game at 36-36 with 9:37 to play. But the Raiders used three inside baskets by Chloe Hansen and six made free throws down the stretch to prevail.
Frazier’s 14 points and Isaacson’s double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds led the Tigers. Addison Lindow had six rebounds, four steals and three assists as Nevis fell to 0-3 on the season.
Jadin Saville (16), Hansen (13) and Bailie Jo Norris (10) hit double figures to lead Greenway, which improved to 2-3.
