Detroit Lakes broke the school record to win the Section 8A gymnastics title and return to the state Class A meet.
The Lakers, who are rated No. 1 in the latest state Class A poll, compiled 151.775 points to defend their title Saturday at Detroit Lakes. Perham was second with a 149.15 while Park Rapids finished seventh with a 112.35.
Park Rapids received a 32.95 in vault behind Olivia Fischer’s 8.50, Brianna Nelson’s 8.30, Shelby Leckner’s 8.20 and Lindsey Girtz’s 7.95. Alexandria’s Hannah Wendel took first with a 9.80.
In floor exercise, the Panthers received a 28.80 as Nelson’s 8.00, Nicole Eischens’ 7.15, Fischer’s 7.10 and Kylee Roy’ s6.55 led the way. Detroit Lakes’ Molly Lyngaas led the field with a 9.60.
Fischer’s 7.35, Girtz’s 6.30, Nelson’s 6.00 and a pair of 5.75s by Talya Smith and Eischens led the Panthers on balance beam for a 25.40 team score. Detroit Lakes’ Emma Disse took first with a 9.65.

On uneven parallel bars, the Panthers received a 25.20 behind Fischer’s 6.90, Roy’s 6.65, Nelson’s 5.95 and Caroline Drury’s 5.70. Lyngaas led the way with a 9.625.
Lyngaas claimed the all-around title with a 38.30. Fischer finished with a 29.85 while Nelson had a 28.25 in all-around.
