Lake of the Woods used a 46-10 advantage in shots on goal to hand the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team a 5-0 Section 8A loss Friday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
Nathan Poolman's power-play goal at the 6;04 mark of the first period gave LOW a 1-0 lead.
LOW dominated the second period, extending the lead to 3-0 with a 20-3 advantage in shots. Ryan Torgeson scored at the 10:30 mark and Luke Krause followed with a power-play goal at the 13:47 mark.
A power-play goal by Jarred Sipe at the 2:49 mark and a goal by Asher Chorney at the 9:37 mark capped off the scoring in the third period.
Goalie Austin Jerger made 41 saves as the Panthers fell to 5-8 in section games and 5-14-1 overall. It marked the third time this season that Park Rapids had been shut out.

LOW, which took advantage of nine Park Rapids penalties, improved to 7-2 against section teams and 11-5-1 overall. The Bears defeated Park Rapids 5-1 earlier in the season.
East Grand Forks (10-6-2 overall) and Northern Lakes (18-1-1 overall) top the section standings with 6-0 records. Thief River Falls is 5-1 (8-11 overall) with Detroit Lakes is 3-2 (9-6-1 overall), Warroad is 3-3 (7-12-1 overall), Crookston is 3-4 (5-12 overall), Bagley/Fosston is 2-6 (5-11-1 overall), Red Lake Falls is 2-6-1 (5-11-1 overall) and Kittson Central is 0-10-1 (1-15-1 overall).
