Isaac Johnson recorded a hat trick in leading the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team to a 6-4 Section 8A win over Red Lake Falls Saturday afternoon at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
Hunter Schmitz gave Red Lake Falls a 1-0 lead just 46 seconds into the game before the Panthers took a 2-1 lead on Johnson's goal at the 5:15 mark and Carter Opheim's goal at the 7:28 mark. Bjorn Jorgenson and Jarrett Johnson assisted on Isaac Johnson's goal while Cameron Hoyt and Mitch Peterson set up Opheim's goal.
The Panthers used a 20-7 advantage in shots on goal to build a 5-3 lead in the second period. After Brandon Klipping tied the game at 2-2 at the 3:04 mark, Brett Pinoniemi assisted on Isaac Johnson's second goal of the game 41 seconds later. Josh Casavan scored at the 8:37 mark to tie the game at 3-3 before Isaac Johnson completed his hat trick on an assist from Jarrett Johnson at the 10:37 mark. Cole Hoscheid's power-play goal made it 5-3 with 26 seconds remaining in the second period. Jorgenson received an assist on that goal.
Shea Alto's goal at the 8:30 mark of the third period made it 6-3. Jack Naugle set up that goal. Klipping's power-play goal at the 13:24 mark concluded the scoring.
Goalie Austin Jerger finished with 17 saves as the Panthers finished with a 45-21 advantage in shots on goal.

Park Rapids, which had Thursday night's game at Crookston postponed, improved to 4-5 in section games and 4-11-1 overall. Red Lake Falls fell to 2-3-1 in section play and 5-6-1 overall.
