A pair of five-run innings sparked the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team to a 10-4 victory at Menahga last Friday.
Menahga jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on walks to Elyse Skoog and Leah Schwartz and Alayna Lake’s two-run double with two outs.
Five hits led to five runs in the fourth as the Panthers took the lead. Singles by Lindsey Girtz and Kendra Anderson were followed by a two-run double by Nikki Eischens, an RBI double by Hope Johnson and a two-run home run by Brooke Jerger. All five runs scored with two outs.
Park Rapids added five more runs in the sixth on walks to Eischens and Johnson, a single by Jerger, a three-run single by Carly Waggoner and an RBI double by Sydney Bynum.
The Braves concluded the scoring in the bottom of the sixth on Hannah Allebach’s single, Dani Novak’s RBI double and Skoog’s RBI single.

Eischens and Jerger both went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI to lead the Panthers’ 10-hit attack. Jerger picked up the win, allowing four earned runs on four hits and five walks while striking out nine as Park Rapids improved to 2-0.
Schwartz took the loss as the Braves fell to 0-3 on the season.
