Howard, Lee produce big plays in UNC’s 59-16 loss to Wheaton

Warriors fall to 0-2 on season

Jonah Howard and Tyce Lee produced big scoring plays as United North Central fell to 0-2 on the season following a 59-16 District 9 West (South) 9-man football loss to Wheaton/Herman-Norcross at Wheaton on Friday, Sept. 6.

UNC trailed 37-0 at halftime before Howard broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run and Kolby Kiser hit Lee on a 67-yard scoring route in the third quarter. Kiser hit Eion Ness on the first conversion and ran in the second conversion.

Howard finished with 80 yards rushing while Kiser threw for 124 yards with Lee on the receiving end of 98 yards to lead the Warriors’ offense.

Defensively, Ivan Anderson was in on 19 tackles with seven solo stops and 12 assists. Howard had 13 tackles (including eight solo tackles) and Brandon Miller made three solo tackles and assisted on four others.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross, which was rated No. 13 in the first state 9-man poll, improved to 1-1 on the season.


UNC plays Verndale at Sebeka in another district game this Friday night (Sept. 13) at 7 p.m. Verndale is 2-0 and rated No. 7 in the state 9-man poll.
