Abby Morris and Chloe Tretbar pounded back-to-back home runs to power the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team to an 11-1 win over East Polk on Friday, May 7.
Park Rapids opened the scoring with four runs in the second inning. Natalie Harvey reached on an error while walks to Cassidy Bera and Ellie Ulvin set up a three-run single by Tori Weaver and an RBI single by Morris.
In the third, a double by Shailyn Pachel, an RBI single by Mickey Clark, a bunt single by Harvey and an error gave the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
After East Polk made it 7-1 in the fourth, Morris and Tretbar hit solo homers to give Park Rapids a 9-1 advantage in the bottom of that inning.
The Panthers ended this game via the 10-run rule in the fifth. Allison Offerdahl reached on a two-base error and pinch runner Amber Berndt advanced to third on Rachael Herman’s bunt. Berndt scored on Ulvin’s bunt. Weaver was hit by a pitch and scored the game-ending run on Morris’ RBI triple.

Morris went 3 for 4 with three RBI and Clark went 2 for 3 to pace Park Rapids’ nine-hit attack. Tretbar picked up the win, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out 10.
The win lifted Park Rapids’ record to 5-6 while East Polk fell to 7-4.

Moorhead jumped out to a 5-2 lead and held off a late rally by the Panthers for a 5-4 victory on Thursday, May 6.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the second when Ulvin doubled, Pachel reached on an error and Offerdahl lined an RBI single.
After Tretbar’s double in the third, the next 10 Park Rapids batters were retired before Pachel led off the seventh with a home run. Harvey was hit by a pitch and scored on Bera’s bunt as the Spuds held on for the win.
Park Rapids managed only four hits as Moorhead improved to 2-4. Tretbar took the loss, allowing seven hits and five walks while striking out five in six innings.
