Lightning strikes down Panthers in 10-0 victory

Three different players scored two goals apiece in leading Northern Lakes to a 10-0 Mid-State Conference victory over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team Tuesday night at Breezy Point Arena.

Caitlyn Gutzman scored twice as the Lightning led 5-0 after the first period. Riley Fogarty, Sydney Tietz and Chloe Deutsch also scored in the opening period as Northern Lakes held a 23-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Savannah Abear scored twice in the second period as Northern Lakes used a 25-1 advantage in shots to extend the lead to 9-0. Alyssa Koslowski and Deutsch also scored in that period.

Ella Peterson concluded the scoring in the third period as the Lightning finished with a 60-5 advantage in shots on goal for the game.

Goalie Kylee Pachel made 50 saves as the Panthers fell to 0-5 in conference games and 3-18 overall. The Lightning improved to 5-1 in the conference and 8-10 overall. Northern Lakes defeated the Panthers 4-1 on Nov. 16.
