Gymnasts show improvement in dual against Perham

Senior Olivia Fischer made her season debut and helped the Park Rapids-Nevis gymnastics team improve in three events during Monday night's dual meet against Perham.

Senior Olivia Fischer made her season debut and helped the Park Rapids-Nevis gymnastics team improve in three events during Monday night's dual meet against Perham.

Fischer competed on balance beam, uneven parallel bars and vault as the Panthers improved their score in all three events. However, Jada Olsen won all four events and the all-around title in leading Perham to a 135.00 to 109.85 victory at the Area High School gym.

The Panthers, who opened the season with a 106.225, received a 32.05 in vault with Fischer's 8.15, Randi Nielson's 8.05, Shelby Leckner's 8.00 and Erin Tooker's 7.85 leading the way. Olsen's 9.50 led Perham to a 34.60.

In floor exercise, the Panthers used Leckner's 7.10, Abby Kirlin's 7.00, Tooker's 6.25 and Nielson's 5.95 for a 26.30. Olsen and Sydney Bahls tied for first with 9.10s as Perham tallied a 33.30 in that event.

Tooker's 7.30, Kirlin's 7.15, Fischer's 6.75 and Jasmine Cease's 5.00 led the Panthers to a 26.20 on beam. Olsen's 9.30 led Perham to a 33.25.

Park Rapids received a 25.30 on bars with Tooker's 6.95, Fischer's 6.35, Katie Eischens' 6.30 and Amelia Berg's 5.70 leading the way. Perham received a 33.85 on bars with Olsen's 9.35 taking first.

Olsen won the all-around with a 37.25 while Tooker was fourth with a 28.35.
