Gymnasts see scores soar against Bemidji

Scores continue to soar for the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis gymnastics team.

The Panthers used season bests in three events to post a season-high team score in a 140.475-120.525 loss to Bemidji in the home opener Friday night (Dec. 7) at the Area High School gym.

Park Rapids opened on floor exercise and used Halle Landstrom's runner-up 8.75, Morgan Koppelman's 8.10, Katie Eischens' 7.70 and Abby Kirlin's 7.45 for a season-best 32.00 team score. Bemidji's Tatum Offerdahl took first with an 8.95.

On balance beam, the Panthers received a season high of 30.775 behind Landstrom's 8.375, Koppelman's 8.00, Eischens 7.60 and Natalie Backmann's 6.80. Bemidji's Lauren Lundquist posted the top score of 9.375.

Offerdahl topped the field on uneven parallel bars with a 9.10 as the Panthers just missed topping their season best with a 25.20. Landstrom's 6.80, Koppelman's 6.70, Eischens' 6.40 and Ally Holmer's 5.35 led Park Rapids.

In vault, the Panthers tallied a season best as Landstrom's 8.60, Koppelman's 8.20, Eischens' 7.95 and Kirlin's 7.80 led to a 32.55. Offerdahl took first with a 9.25.

Offerdahl won the all-around title with a 36.15 while Landstrom (32.525), Koppelman (31.00) and Eischens (29.65) followed. The 140.475 was Bemidji's highest score ever in a season-opening meet.
