Park Rapids' Megan Grimes and Jaiden McCollum concluded the women's indoor track and field season by competing at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at St. Olaf College at Northfield on Feb. 21.
Grimes, a senior at St. Olaf, placed eighth in the pentathlon with 2,795 points. Grimes scored 748 points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.81 to place fifth; 655 points by clearing 4 feet, 6.75 inches in the high jump to place 11th; 562 points with a throw of 34-5 in the shot put to place first; 504 points with a time of 2:46.19 in the 800 run to place 12th; and 479 points with a distance of 15-5 in the long jump to place eighth.
St. Olaf's Mackenzie Schoustra won the heptathlon with 3,425 points.
Grimes also competed in the 60 hurdles (placing 18th during preliminaries with a 10.22) and shot put (placing 19th during preliminaries with a throw of 34-6.25). Hamline's Gabrielle Brown won the 60 hurdles in 8.89 while St. Thomas' Megan Gehrke took first in the shot put at 43-10.75.
McCollum, a freshman at St. Benedict, also competed in the shot put at the MIAC meet. McCollum tied for 12th with a throw of 36-6.25.

St. Thomas compiled 197 points to win the MIAC indoor title for the 20th year in a row. Hamline was second with 113.50 points while Carleton (72.50), Bethel (71), Gustavus (59.50), St. Olaf (58), Concordia (57), St. Benedict (51.50), St. Catherine (36), Macalester (32), St. Mary's (19) and Augsburg (13) followed.
Both competed in four indoor meets during the regular season.
At the Carleton Triangular at Northfield on Jan. 18, Grimes placed fifth in the high jump at 4-7.75 and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 31-8.
McCollum made her collegiate debut at the Chelsey M. Henkenius Open at Waverly, Iowa, on Jan. 19, placing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 38-0.75.
Grimes competed in her first pentathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota on Jan. 25-25. Grimes placed 15th with 2,705 points by scoring 723 points with a 9.94 in the 60 hurdles for 13th place, 558 points with a throw of 34-2.75 in the shot put for fifth place, 555 points by clearing 4-8.75 in the high jump for 16th place, 454 points with a leap of 15-1.25 in the long jump for 14th place and 415 points with a 2:54.75 in the 800 run for 18th place.
McCollum placed fourth in the shot put at 37-11.5 and sixth in the 400 dash in 1:07.05 at the CSB-SJU Alumni meet at Collegeville on Jan. 26. At the Hamster Invitational at St. Paul on Feb. 1, McCollum placed fifth in the shot put at 38-9.50 and ran on the fourth-place 4 x 400 relay that clocked a 4:31.62.
Grimes competed in four events at the Carleton Meet of the Hearts at Northfield on Feb. 9, placing second in the 55 hurdles in 9.31, third in the 200 dash in 28.00, fifth in the shot put at 33-2.50 and fifth in the long jump at 15-0.75.
Both Park Rapids graduates competed at the St. Olaf Invitational at Northfield on Feb. 15 with McCollum placing second in the shot put with a throw of 36-8.25 and Grimes following in third place at 35-5.75. McCollum also ran on St. Benedict's 4 x 400 relay that finished third in 4:29.72 while Grimes placed fifth in the 60 hurdles in 9.86 and fifth in the high jump at 4-6.
