Walt Harrison expected the Park Rapids girls golf team to card a round under 400 multiple times this season.

The Panthers fulfilled that goal for the first time on their home course on Monday, May 6.

Led by Chloe Johnson's 93 and Madison Johnson's 95, the Panthers carded a 390 to tie for fourth place at the 20-team Park Rapids Invitational at Headwaters Golf Club. Emily Schulz's 100 and Mady Maninga's 102 rounded out the Panthers' team score while Olivia Ulvin added a 109 and Kinley Nordin carded a 122.

Nevis fielded an incomplete team with Sofie Anderson carding a 124 and Sarah Boettcher carding a 126.

Shelby Busker earned medalist honors with a 1-over par 73, Anna Cihak was third with an 80, McKenna Mallow was fourth with an 82 and Hanna Knoop finished eighth with a 91 as Detroit Lakes captured the team title with a 326. Perham, led by Mallory Belka's runner-up score of 78, was a distant second with a 379 while Pequot Lakes took third with a 386. Crookston tied the Panthers for fourth at 390.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Laporte's Justine Day rounded out the top-five with an 86. There were 106 golfers who competed.

Panthers win again

The Panthers won their third straight Northern Pines Conference meet by carding a 148 at Deer River on Tuesday, May 7.

Chloe Johnson earned medalist honors with a 48 while Madison Johnson's 50 and a pair of 52s by Ulvin and Maninga completed the Panthers' three-golfer score. Nordin carded a 57 and Schulz carded a 60.

Bigfork was second with a 149. Pine River-Backus took third with a 151 and Nevis finished fourth with a 181. Leading Nevis were Kaylee Halik with a 54, Anderson with a 57, Boettcher with a 70 and Megan Lindow with an 83. United North Central had an incomplete team with Hope Shepersky carding a 58 and Alayna Day carding a 59.
