Win-E-Mac ends Tigers' season with 38-6 victory
Nathan Fortmann rushed 41 times for 241 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another score in leading Win-E-Mac to a 38-6 Section 6 9-man football victory over Nevis on Oct. 27 at Erskine.
After a scoreless first quarter, Win-E-Mac opened the scoring with an 11-play, 53-yard drive. A 12-yard run by Gavin Walker, an 8-yard gain by Fortmann on third-and-5, a 3-yard carry by Fortmann on third-and-3, and a 9-yard run by Fortmann on third-and-9 set up a 20-yard TD run by Fortmann. Fortmann ran in the conversion as the No. 2-seeded Patriots led 8-0 with 8:33 to play in the first half.
Nevis, the No. 3 seed that lost to Win-E-Mac 48-6 in Week 2 of the regular season, countered with a four-play, 48-yard scoring drive. Luke DeWulf rushed three times for 10 yards before breaking free for a 38-yard TD run. That made it 8-6 at the 3:12 mark.

Early in the third quarter, Tre Ross recovered a Win-E-Mac fumble at the Nevis 46, but the Tigers couldn’t capitalize on the turnover as the Patriots took over at their own 45.

After a holding penalty, Fortmann hit Strom on a 19-yard TD pass on fourth-and-12. Fortmann ran in the conversion to give Win-E-Mac a 24-6 lead with 5:06 to play in the third quarter.
On the ensuing series, the Tigers fumbled at their own 25 and Win-E-Mac padded its lead six plays later on Fortmann’s 1-yard TD plunge on fourth-and-goal. Fortmann’s 15-yard carry to the 8 helped set up that TD as the Patriots led 30-6 at the 1:41 mark.
On Win-E-Mac’s next series, Fortmann used carries of 10, 16 and 10 yards to lead the Patriots to the Nevis 15. That drive stalled at the Nevis 25.
