Eight Tigers awarded all-conference honors

     Eight Nevis football players received all-conference honors after leading the Tigers to a share of the Great Northern Conference title.

     Seniors Austin Becker, Gavin Becker and Courtland Chase and juniors Kiefer Miller and Landon Godwin earned all-conference honors while seniors Gavin Hitchcock and Victor Mastley and junior Jordan Spenst earned all-conference honorable mention honors in leading the Tigers to a 7-1 record in the conference to tie Cromwell for the conference title.

     Austin Becker completed 56 of 125 passes for 1,149 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed 111 times for 1,098 yards and six touchdowns as the starting quarterback while adding 14 solo tackles and an interception on defense. Becker was named the Tigers’ Most Valuable Player.

     Gavin Becker led the Tigers in receptions with 25 for 576 yards and six TDs while rushing 13 times for 218 yards and four TDs. On defense, Becker had 35 solo tackles and three interceptions. Becker received the team’s Defensive Back and Special Teams Player of the Year honors.

     Chase was named the Tigers’ Defensive Lineman of the Year after tallying 46 solo tackles, two sacks and three interceptions. On offense, Chase had 12 receptions for 157 yards and three TDs.

     Miller was second on the team in rushing with 153 carries for 1,082 yards and 16 TDs while scoring a team-leading 116 points. Miller also completed 8 of 18 passes for 146 yards and a TD. On defense, Miller led the team with 62 solo tackles. Miller was named the Tigers’ Offensive Back of the Year and received the Coaches Award.

     Godwin and Mastley led the way on the offensive line as the Tigers compiled 3,340 yards rushing and 1,295 yards passing in scoring 411 points in 11 games. Godwin also had 29 solo tackles on defense while Mastley was named the Tigers’ Offensive Lineman of the Year.

     Hitchcock rushed 48 times for 399 yards and four TDs, caught four passes for 85 yards and two TDs and tallied 40 solo tackles and two fumble recoveries on defense.

     Spenst caught 14 passes for 377 yards and five TDs, rushed three times for 45 yards and a TD and had 53 solo tackles and two fumble recoveries.
