EGF blanks Panthers as Mack gets hat trick

East Grand Forks used a 60-11 advantage in shots on goal and Haley Mack's hat trick to defeat the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team 6-0 Monday night at East Grand Forks.

East Grand Forks used a 60-11 advantage in shots on goal and Haley Mack's hat trick to defeat the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team 6-0 Monday night at East Grand Forks.

Mack scored the game's lone goal in the first period and followed with two goals in the first 1:19 of the second period to give the Green Wave a 3-0 lead.

Goals by Tiffany Hanson, Coco Piche and Riley Koberinski in the third period concluded the scoring. Piche scored on a power play.

Madi Galstad stopped all 11 shots she faced for the shutout as EGF improved to 4-5 against Section 8A opponents and 16-7-1 overall. The Green Wave are rated No. 16 in this week's state Class A poll.

Shania Johnson finished with 54 saves for the Panthers, who fell to 2-6 against section opponents and 13-10 overall.
