Jake Dickinson broke the school record for passing yards in a game in leading the Park Rapids football team to a 33-20 Heart O’Lakes Conference Northern Division and Section 8AAA victory at Perham Wednesday night.
Dickinson completed 11 of 18 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns in rallying the Panthers to the win in the regular-season finale. Tyler McCollum held the old record of 236 yards set in 2012.
Perham took a 6-0 lead with 1:06 to play in the first quarter when Cole Schmitz returned a punt 65 yards to the Park Rapids 10-yard line to set up a 4-yard TD reception by Nathan Currier on fourth-and-goal.
The Panthers took a 7-6 lead when Dickinson hit Derek Porozinski on a 74-yard scoring route and Jarrett Johnson converted the kick with 7:32 to play in the first half.
Josh Germolus’ 55-yard TD reception at the 5:29 mark and Currier’s 24-yard TD run following a 21-yard interception return by Dylan Perrine at the 4:16 mark gave Perham a 20-7 lead.

Park Rapids carried some momentum into the half with a late five-play, 70-yard scoring drive. Jordan McCollum’s 18-yard run and Porozinski’s 23-yard reception and 19-yard catch set up a 13-yard TD run by McCollum. Johnson’s kick cut the gap to 20-14 with :20 left in the second quarter.
The Panthers tied the game on Dickinson’s 66-yard TD pass to Jon Burlingame with 3:54 to go in the third quarter.
After forcing the Yellowjackets to punt, Park Rapids drove 40 yards in six plays to take the lead. Matt Bade’s 10-yard run, Burlingame’s 13-yard gain and Bade’s 9-yard carry set up a 1-yard TD run by McCollum. Johnson’s kick made it 27-20 with :47 left in the third quarter.
The Panthers sealed the win with a 10-play, 67-yard scoring drive. A 17-yard catch by Porozinski, a personal-foul penalty, a 24-yard catch by Damion Hanke and a 29-yard catch by Porozinski set up a 1-yard TD run by Porozinski. That made it 33-20 with 4:29 to go.
Hanke’s interception with 2:54 left sealed the win. Hanke also recovered a fumble and Ben Baumgartner had an interception as the Panthers forced three turnovers.
McCollum rushed 12 times for 59 yards and Porozinski caught seven passes for a school-record 187 yards as the Panthers finished with 371 yards. The win lifted Park Rapids to 3-2 against section teams and 3-5 overall.
Schmitz rushed 24 times for 105 yards and Mason Malikowski completed 10 of 20 passes for 119 yards as Perham fell to 2-3 against section teams and 3-5 overall.
