Detroit Lakes defeats gymnasts

Detroit Lakes took the top-three spots in all four events in a 132.20 to 111.05 victory over the Park Rapids-Nevis gymnastics team Thursday night at Detroit Lakes.

     Detroit Lakes took the top-three spots in all four events in a 132.20 to 111.05 victory over the Park Rapids-Nevis gymnastics team Thursday night at Detroit Lakes.

     Olivia Fischer’s 8.30, Brianna Nelson’s 8.05, Rachel Konshok’s 7.90 and Katie Eischens’ 7.80 gave the Panthers a 32.05 in vault. Detroit Lakes’ Skylar DeBoer led the way with an 8.65.

     Nelson’s 8.25, Katie Eischens’ 8.10, Fischer’s 7.40 and Nicole Eischens’ 7.10 led to a 30.85 in floor exercise. Detroit Lakes’ Johanna Jernberg had the top score with a 9.15.

     The Panthers received a 26.50 on balance beam behind Katie Eischens’ 7.15, Nelson’s 6.85, Nicole Eischens’ 6.30 and Fischer’s 6.20. Detroit Lakes’ Alexis Ostlie received a 9.15.

     Fischer’s 6.60, Kylee Roy’s 6.25, Nelson’s 5.05 and Lindsey Girtz’s 3.75 led to a 21.65 on uneven parallel bars. Ostlie also had the top score in that event with an 8.30.

     Ostlie claimed the all-around title with a 34.90. Fischer finished third in all-around with a 28.50 while Nelson was fourth with a 28.20.

     Detroit Lakes, which moved up some junior varsity gymnasts to varsity, entered this meet rated No. 1 in the state Class A poll.
