The Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team couldn't stop Brianna Breiland in the first round of the Section 8A playoffs Thursday night at Crookston.
Breiland scored four goals to raise her season total to 53 in leading the Pirates to a 4-0 victory in the section quarterfinals. Crookston, the No. 4 seed, defeated the Panthers for the third time this season and eliminated No. 5 Park Rapids in the section quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
Park Rapids goalie Shania Johnson stopped the first 13 shots she faced before Breiland scored with 1:38 to play in the first period. Crookston held a 15-4 advantage in shots in the opening period.
After Breiland scored 34 seconds into the second period, Johnson stopped the next nine shots as the Pirates carried a 2-0 lead into the final period.
Breiland recorded a hat trick at the 4:40 mark and concluded the scoring with the game's final goal at the 11:07 mark as the Pirates advanced to the section semifinals.

Crookston held a 35-11 advantage in shots. Park Rapids was shut out for the seventh time this season and for the fourth game in a row.
Johnson finished with 31 saves as the Panthers ended the season with a 13-13 record. The 13 wins tie the school record for wins in a season set by the 2001-02 team that went 13-8-1.
Lexi Cromican stopped all 11 shots she faced for the shutout as the Pirates improved to 13-11. Crookston is rated No. 13 in the latest state Class A poll.
