A fast start and a balanced scoring attack sparked the Menahga girls basketball team to a 70-31 Park Region Conference victory over Sebeka at Menahga on Jan. 4.
The Braves jumped out to a 27-2 lead and led 44-10 at the half in coasting to the win.
Tara Hendrickson (14), Megan Hendrickson (12), Cierra Ahlf (12) and Alyssa Peterson (11) scored in double figures for the Braves. Megan Hendrickson had eight rebounds; Timbr Berttunen grabbed six rebounds; Tara Hendrickson had five rebounds, four assists and four steals; Peterson had five rebounds and four assists; and Ahlf had five steals as Menahga improved to 5-0 in the conference, 5-0 against Section 5A teams and 11-0 overall. The Braves made 9 of 24 3-pointers while forcing 21 turnovers.
No player hit double figures for the Trojans, who fell to 3-2 in conference and section games and 5-5 overall. Sebeka went 3 for 17 on 3-point tries.
