Chase Brand’s power-play goal with 5:25 to play completed a hat track and gave the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team a 4-3 win over Kittson Central Tuesday night at the Walker Area Community Center.
Brand opened the scoring at the 11:44 mark of the first period before Kittson Central tied the game on Billy Thorsteinson’s goal at the 14:00 mark.
Kittson Central took a 3-1 lead on Dalton Klegstad’s shorthanded goal and Thorsteinson’s goal in the second period.
The Panthers rallied for the win by scoring three times in the third period. Connor Kennedy assisted on Brand’s second goal of the game at the 2:23 mark and Brand set up Kiefer Miller for a power-play goal at the 6:07 mark. Kennedy assisted on Brand’s game-winner as the Panthers took advantage of three Kittson Central penalties in the final period.
Park Rapids goalie Ben Naugle stopped 30 shots as the Panthers held a 36-33 advantage in shots on goal.

The win lifted the Panthers’ record to 1-4 against Section 8A opponents and 4-5 overall. Kittson Central fell to 2-3 in the section and 4-5 overall.
