The Bemidji Police Department Animal Control shot a young bear Wednesday morning in the Wood Avenue Southeast area of Nymore.

The recommendation from the police department if a bear enters a residential area is to leave it alone and it will usually depart on its own. According to the police, people were not leaving the bear that was shot alone.

According to the Bemidji Police Department, Department of Natural Resources officials took charge of the carcass.
