A 23-year-old Anoka, Minn., man is in stable condition after an apparent accidental shooting while hunting grouse in Beltrami County, officials said.
According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, the shooting occurred in the unorganized townships area north of Fourtown, Minn. The sheriff's office reported that a 59-year-old Andover, Minn., man admitted firing his shotgun at a flushed grouse in a thicket when the victim was struck by shotgun pellets.
The victim was first transported to the clinic in Warroad, Minn., and transferred to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, where he was stabilized. He later was flown to the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he arrived about 6 p.m. Thursday, a emergency room supervisor said. He is listed in stable condition.
The victim's and shooter's identities were not released pending notification of family. The sheriff's office said more details will be released today.
