Slow start costs Panthers in loss to Crosby-Ironton

Joseph Stokman led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points in leading Crosby-Ironton to a 49-38 Mid-State Conference win over the Park Rapids boys basketball team Jan. 8 at Crosby.

Johnathan Jacobson (12) and Kyle Skeim (11) also hit double figures for the Rangers, who jumped out to a 26-9 halftime lead.

Gabe Bagstad scored 19 points and had five steals to lead the Panthers, who fell to 2-1 in conference play and 4-5 overall. Kolby Brandt led the team with nine rebounds while adding five steals and three assists while Jeff Haas also had three assists. Jake Reish pulled down five rebounds.

Crosby-Ironton improved to 2-1 in the conference and 8-1 overall. Detroit Lakes (4-4 overall) tops the conference standings at 2-0 while Pequot Lakes is also 2-1 in conference games and 8-1 overall. Aitkin (0-2 in the conference) and Staples-Motley (0-3 in the conference) both have 1-7 overall records.
