The Nevis baseball team committed 17 errors in dropping games to Blackduck, Ely and Lake of the Woods.

Blackduck remained undefeated in Northland Conference play with a 10-0 six-inning victory over the Tigers at Blackduck on Saturday, May 11.

Singles by Wyatt Rech, Cain Mitchell and Derek Lindow provided the only hits for Nevis, which had five errors in the game that led to six unearned runs.

Shep Davis started and took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out four in four innings. Ward Davis and Tommy Gust finished up.

Ely scored three runs in the seventh inning for an 8-5 victory at Blackduck on May 11.

Ely led 5-0 before Nevis scored four times in the fourth. Rech (2 for 4, one run), Ward Davis (1 for 4, one run, one RBI), Reese Kline (1 for 3, one RBI), Shep Davis (1 for 3, one run), Tyler Lindow (1 for 3, one RBI), and Derek Lindow (1 for 4, one run) led Nevis' seven-hit attack. Mitchell drove in a run while Gust scored the other run.

Derek Lindow started and was the losing pitcher after giving up seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out nine in 6 ⅓ innings. Gust closed out the game as Ely improved to 8-3.

Ten errors led to eight unearned runs as the Tigers dropped a 12-11 decision at Lake of the Woods on Tuesday, May 14. LOW led 9-3 before the Tigers tied the game at 11-11 by scoring six times in the sixth and twice in the seventh. The Bears scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Nevis finished with 12 hits with Ethan Tauber (3 for 3, one run, three RBI), Rech (2 for 4, one run, two RBI), Ward Davis (2 for 4, two runs) and Shep Davis (2 for 3, two runs) leading the way. Tyler Lindow (1 for 3, one run), Kline (1 for 5, one run, one RBI, three stolen bases), Mitchell (1 for 3, two runs, two RBI) and Dan Mistic (1 for 3, one run, one RBI) also aided the offense.

Ward Davis started and gave up five runs on six hits in two innings. Gust pitched the next three innings and allowed four runs on four hits while Mitchell took the loss by allowing three runs on two hits in the sixth and seventh.

Nevis fell to 7-2 in the conference and 9-5 overall while LOW improved to 3-6 in conference games and 4-7 overall.
