Panthers issue 13 walks in loss to EGF

Jake Osowski threw a one-hitter and East Grand Forks took advantage of 13 walks and three hit batters to walk away with a 14-0 five-inning victory over the Park Rapids baseball team on Thursday, May 9.

Four walks, a hit batter and an error gave EGF a 4-0 lead in the first inning before four walks, a hit batter and another error extended the lead to 10-0 in the second. Two singles, a walk and a hit batter produced two more runs in the third before three singles led to the final two runs in the fourth. Nine of the 16 batters who either walked or were hit by pitches scored.

Brendan Kruchowski's double in the fourth was the only hit for the Panthers. Kruchowski walked in the second, Cameron Hoyt walked in the third and fifth innings, and Chaise Persons reached on an error in the fifth to account for Park Rapids' other baserunners.

Kruchowski started and took the loss, allowing four runs on one hit, four walks and one hit batter in ⅔ of an inning. Ty Karger pitched an inning and gave up five runs on one hit, three walks and one hit batter. Brody Hagen allowed five runs on five hits and three walks with a hit batter over 2 ⅓ innings before Hoyt walked three to load the bases during a scoreless fifth inning.

The loss dropped Park Rapids to 1-3 against Section 8AA opponents and 3-4 overall. EGF improved to 7-1 in section play and 7-2 overall.
