Perham walks away with 8-3 win over Panthers
Perham took advantage of seven walks to spark an 8-3 win over the Park Rapids baseball team in game of Section 8AA rivals Friday night at Perham.
Jack Kovash walked and scored on Nick Lindberg’s RBI double in the first, Kaleb King reached on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly in the second, and Kovash walked and scored on Max Tostenson’s RBI single in the third as the Yellowjackets built a 3-0 lead.
Ty Moser and Dawson Stevens walked and scored in the sixth before RBI doubles by Moser and Kovash ended Perham’s scoring in the sixth.
Park Rapids cut the gap to 3-2 in the fifth on singles by Zach Severtson and Ty Karger, a walk to Cameron Hoyt and an error. Tristin Persons walked, stole second and scored on Jason Haas’ double in the seventh to conclude the scoring.
The Panthers were held to five hits by Noah Rooney and Maddux Kovash. Those two pitchers combined to walk four and strike out 13 while stranding 10 Park Rapids runners on base. The win lifted Perham to 4-0 on the season.
Gabe Bagstad started and took the loss for the Panthers. Bagstad allowed five runs on two hits and seven walks in 4 ⅔ innings.
