Barnesville eliminates Panthers in first round of Section 8AA playoffs

Nicole Herbranson scored 21 points as Barnesville opened the Section 8AA playoffs with a 69-62 win over the Park Rapids girls basketball team Thursday night.

     Nicole Herbranson scored 21 points as Barnesville opened the Section 8AA playoffs with a 69-62 win over the Park Rapids girls basketball team Thursday night.

     Andria McIntyre added 15 points and nine rebounds while Peyton Boom had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans, the No. 8 seed who improved to 14-12 on the season.

     Gabie Johnson’s 19 points and seven rebounds and Jaiden McCollum’s 17 points and 12 rebounds led the No. 9-seeded Panthers, who trailed 30-18 at the half. Kaisa Coborn added three assists and three steals as Park Rapids, which had a four-game winning streak snapped, ended the season with a 12-14 record.
