Anna Eckmann earns medalist honors with an 80

Anna Eckmann earned medalist honors with an 80 in leading the Park Rapids girls golf team to third place with a 385 during the Park Rapids Invitational at Headwaters Golf Club on Monday, May 3.

Eckmann led the 51 golfers in the 12-team field with an 8-over par round in cold and windy conditions. Eckmann followed a 37 on the front side with a 43 on the back side. Mady Maninga tied for sixth place with rounds of 42 and 49 for a 91 for the Panthers.

Rounding out the Panthers’ team score were Lexi Usher (25th with a 104) and Emily Schulz (34th with a 110). Natalie Backmann carded a 118 and Emma Vrieze had a 135.

“I am very happy with how the girls played. We competed against some tough teams and conditions again were not ideal,” said Park Rapids head coach Brent Vandal. “We still have some things we are working on, but I am proud of the progress we're making.”

Detroit Lakes led the field with a 344 while Fergus Falls followed with a 363. Detroit Lakes’ Hanna Knoop and Fergus Falls’ Annika Jyrkas tied for second with 81s.


United North Central’s Alayna Day finished 19th with rounds of 46 and 52 for a 98.
