Park Rapids’ Mady Maninga won the Junior 17-U consolation title at the 97th annual Birchmont golf tournament at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.

Maninga carded an 83 to finish 17th out of 30 golfers during the qualifying round on July 26. Tony Carlin earned medalist honors with a 74.

In the first round of match play in the Junior 17-U 2nd Bracket on July 28, Maninga lost to Carter Fish 2 & 1. Maninga rebounded to capture the consolation title with a pair of 3 & 2 victories over Rylan Bures on July 30 and Aidan Johnson on July 31.

Park Rapids’ Trent Wilcox competed in the Men’s Division and tied for 69th place during qualifying with rounds of 76 and 80 for a 156 on July 26-27. Moorhead’s Lucas Johnson led the field of 96 golfers with rounds of 70 and 64 for a 134. The top 32 qualified for the Men’s Championship.

Wilcox was placed in the A Division and opened match play with a win over Thomas Raden in 23 holes on July 28 before being eliminated with a 4 & 3 loss to Ethan Olson on July 30.

Andrew Israelson of Staples won the Men’s Championship while Olson captured the A Division title.
