Tyler Shepersky and the 4 x 100-meter relay team captured titles for the United North Central boys while Gabby Hrdlicka finished first for the UNC girls at the Park Region Conference track and field meet at Pillager on Tuesday, May 25.
Shepersky won the 1,600 wheelchair race in 4:49.99 and the 3,200 wheelchair race in 10:03.65 while Christian Johnson, Casey Blixt, Connor Korvela and Rashad Lincoln teamed up to win the 4 x 100 relay in 47.06 as the Warriors placed sixth in the boys meet. Hrdlicka topped the field in the 300 hurdles in 48.24 as the UNC girls finished fifth in this seven-team meet.
Hrdlicka was also the runner-up in the 100 hurdles in 16.17. The 4 x 800 relay team of Rachael Smith, Kylynn Warmbold, Hope Shepersky and Mattea Smith finished third in 11:36.83.
Also scoring points for the Warriors in the girls meet were Janie Tormanen in the 400 (fourth in 1:05.55), Lydia Lillquist in the discus (fourth at 88 feet, 3.50 inches), Jenna Seibert in the discus (fifth at 86-6.50), Harmony Livingston in the shot put (fifth at 30-3), Kaylie Westberg in the 1,600 (sixth in 6:31.75) and Mattea Smith in the 800 (sixth in 2:49.57). The 4 x 200 relay team of Elyse Ness, Ellie Ness, Maddie Thene and Livingston finished fifth in 2:08.64 while the 4 x 400 relay team of Alessandra Matson, Crystal Haataja, Mattea Smith and Tormanen placed fifth in 4:55.18.
Wadena-Deer Creek won the girls title with 154 points. Ottertail Central (150), Bertha-Hewitt/Verndlae (87), Pillager (76), United North Central (42), New York Mills (27) and Parkers Prairie (18) followed.
Korvela also placed in three other events, finishing second in the long jump at 19-8, third in the 1,600 in 4:55.87 and fifth in the triple jump at 37-9. Lincoln finished fifth in the 100 in 11.62 and sixth in the 200 in 24.75 while Johnson was fifth in the 400 in 56.84.
W-DC compiled 116 points to top the boys field while OTC (102), Pillager (99), Parkers Prairie (98), BHV (76), UNC (51) and New York Mills (26) followed.
