Menahga managed only nine hits, but still managed to win a pair of games at home on Thursday, May 20.
The Braves took advantage of four errors to defeat Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 6-3 in a Park Region Conference clash in the first game and followed by capitalizing on five errors for a 7-1 victory over Frazee in the second game.
B-H-V scored twice in the first before the Braves tied it on Henry Salmen's RBI grounder and an error. Salmen's sacrifice fly made it 3-1 in the third before an error and Liam Torola's RBI grounder gave Menahga a 5-2 lead in the fourth. Ivan Anderson's RBI single capped off the scoring in the fifth.
Torola went 2 for 3 to lead the Braves' five-hit attack. Jack Pietila picked up the win, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts over six innings. Salmen gave up one run on two hits in the seventh.
The win lifted Menahga to 9-4 in the conference while BHV fell to 1-11 in conference games and 3-12 overall.
Menahga used five errors in the first two innings to build a 7-0 lead in the win over Frazee. Singles by Ethan Hendrickson and Torola, three errors and Anderson's RBI single produced a 4-0 lead in the first while Torola's RBI single and two errors led to three runs in the second.
Torola went 2 for 2 as Menahga was held to four hits. Eddie Salmen went the distance for the win, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven as Menahga improved to 13-4. Frazee fell to 5-12.
