Jade Rypkema broke her school record in the 3,200-meter run as the Nevis track and field team opened the season at Pequot Lakes on Friday, April 16.
Rypkema clocked a time of 11:11.41 to account for one of six winning efforts for the Tigers. Also taking first for the Nevis girls were Makenna Frazier in the 100 hurdles (17.92) and the 4 x 200 relay team of Frazier, Addison Lindow, Grace McNamee and Marley Mitchell (2:03.75).
Leading the Nevis boys with winning efforts were Ayo Ogundeji in the 100 (tied for first in 12.07) and 200 (24.92) and Jack McNamee in the 800 (2:12.48).
Also placing among the leaders for the Tigers were Frazier in the 200 (third in 29.77), Mitchell in the long jump (third at 13 feet, 4 inches) and 100 (fourth in 14.86), and Grace McNamee in the 100 hurdles (fourth in 19.98) for the girls and Evan Pohl in the 1,600 (second in 5:01.35) and Jon Rice in the 300 hurdles (fourth in 47.32) for the boys.
Staples-Motley and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley also competed in this four-team meet.
