Tori Oehrlein scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the first half as Crosby-Ironton took control early in posting a 71-49 Mid-State Conference victory over the Park Rapids girls basketball team at Crosby on Thursday, Feb. 18.
Oehrlein hit three 3-pointers while Jacey Rydberg scored 10 points as the Rangers led 36-14 at the half. Mickey Clark had two baskets while Tori Weaver and Hannah Morgan hit 3-pointers for Park Rapids in the opening half.
Weaver (11), Olivia Davis (9) and Morgan (6) combined for 26 points while Gabi Shepersky chipped in a 3-pointer for the Panthers in the second half. Oehrlein, Karli Nixon and Ellen Silgen made 3-pointers for Crosby-Ironton after the break.
Weaver was the only Park Rapids player to hit double figures with 16 points while Davis (9), Morgan (9) and Clark (8) combined for 26 points. Davis hauled down nine rebounds, Mady Maninga had six rebounds, Abby Morris had six rebounds and dished out four assists, Clark and Weaver had three assists each, and Morgan blocked three shots as the Panthers fell to 2-4 in conference play and 3-7 overall. Park Rapids went 4 for 20 on 3-pointers and turned the ball over 23 times.
Nixon (15) and Rydberg (12) also scored in double figures for the Rangers, who improved to 5-1 in the conference and 8-1 overall. Crosby-Ironton was rated No. 14 in the latest state Class A poll.
