Pequot Lakes capped off an undefeated regular season with a 7-0 Mid-State Conference victory over the Park Rapids girls tennis team at Pequot Lakes on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Megan Muller, Carly Chaney and Riley Fogarty didn’t drop a game at the top singles spots and Kate Bolz-Andolshek added a straight-set win (6-3, 6-4) over Hannah Morgan at No. 4 singles to spark the sweep in singles. Rachael Herman, Cassidy Bera and Shailyn Hayes played the other singles positions for Park Rapids.

The Patriots also won all three doubles matches in straight sets. The Panthers’ Emily Schulz and Macy Goochey played well in a 6-3, 7-5 loss to Quinn Trottier and Kelbee Lampl at No. 2 doubles. Afton Crocker and Morgan Lueck defeated the Panthers’ Abby Morris and Morgan Koppelman 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles while Lexi Peterson and Kelsi Martini defeated Park Rapids’ Taylor Dravis and Destiny Villarreal 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.

Pequot Lakes improved to 8-0 in conference matches and 10-0 overall with its eighth 7-0 win over the season. The Panthers fell to 2-4 against Mid-State opponents and 4-7 overall.

The No. 5-seeded Panthers looked to snap a six-match losing streak with a Section 8A quarterfinal match against No. 4 Perham/New York Mills at Perham on Tuesday (Oct. 6). With a win, the Panthers will most likely travel to No. 1 Crookston on Thursday (Oct. 8). With a loss, the Panthers will most likely host No. 8 Parkers Prairie on Thursday (Oct. 8) at the Depot Courts.
