Staples-Motley swept the doubles matches in straight sets and added a pair of straight-set wins in singles to spark a 6-1 Mid-State Conference win over the Park Rapids girls tennis team at the Depot Courts on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Abby Morris prevailed with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to account for the Panthers’ lone win. Hannah Morgan extended her No. 4 singles match to three sets before falling 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 while Morgan Koppelman at No. 2 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Shailyn Hayes and Abby Runyan dropped first-set tiebreakers as the Panthers fell to 2-1 in conference matches and 4-2 overall.

The Cardinals improved to 5-1 on the season.
