Park Rapids and Wolf Lake will open the Region 14C amateur baseball tournament with play-in games on Friday, Aug. 7.

Park Rapids, the No. 9 seed, plays No. 8 Sebeka at Perham while No. 10 Wolf Lake plays No. 7 Staples at Deer Creek to open the double-elimination playoffs. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

The Esox and Sebeka split games during the regular season with Sebeka posting a 7-0 victory on July 12 and Park Rapids ending the regular season with a 6-3 win over the Stingers on Sunday (Aug. 2). Wolf Lake defeated Staples 13-9 in the regular-season finale on Sunday (Aug. 2) in their only meeting this summer.

The winner between the Park Rapids and Sebeka game plays No. 1 Bluffton at Perham on Saturday (Aug. 8) at 4 p.m. No. 4 Perham plays No. 5 Deer Creek at Perham at 1 p.m. with the winners of those games playing at 7:30 p.m.

The winner of the Wolf Lake vs. Staples game plays No. 2 Nimrod at Deer Creek at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 8). No. 3 Midway opens against No. 6 New York Mills at Deer Creek at 1 p.m. The winners of those games play at 7:30 p.m. at Deer Creek on Saturday (Aug. 8). Midway edged New York Mills 6-5 on July 19.

Elimination games will be played on Sunday (Aug. 9) at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Perham and Deer Creek with the final winners’ bracket game set for 5 p.m. at Perham on Sunday (Aug. 9). The tournament concludes on Aug. 14-15 at Perham with the Region 14C championship game set for Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. The region champ and runner-up advance to the state Class C tournament, which begins Aug. 21 at Springfield and Milroy. The state tournament runs through Sept. 6. Bluffton defeated Perham 13-0 in last year’s championship game.

Daily ticket prices for the Region 14C tournament are $7 for adults and $3 for ages 13-17. Children ages 12-under will be admitted free.

Nimrod won the Lake & Pine League title with a 7-1 record. Midway was second at 7-3 followed by Wolf Lake (2-5), Staples (2-6), Sebeka (2-6) and Park Rapids (2-8).

Bluffton captured the Hi-10 League title with a 7-1 record with Perham (4-2-1), Deer Creek (3-4) and New York Mills (2-3-1) following.
