Four players scored in double figures as the Menahga boys basketball team coasted to an 84-51 Park Region Conference win at Verndale on Feb. 7.
Two 3-pointers by Victor Aho and two baskets apiece by Charlie Hodge, Wade Berttunen, Tristan Aho and Jared Tolkkinen gave Menahga an early 30-15 advantage. A 3-pointer by Berttunen helped give the Braves a 36-25 edge at the break.
Three-pointers by Hodge, Victor Aho and Berttunen, a basket off a rebound by Victor Aho, and a layup off a steal by Berttunen made it 56-36 before a 3-pointer by Victor Aho and two jumpers by Tristan Aho extended the lead to 65-42. Three-pointers by Hodge, Andreas Aho and Danny Noland helped seal the win.
Berttunen (18), Hodge (16), Victor Aho (16) and Tristan Aho (14) led a balanced scoring attack for the Braves, who also received eight rebounds from Jonah Howard. Victor Aho had six rebounds, Andreas Aho had five assists and Tristan Aho had four assists as Menahga improved to 6-4 in the conference and 9-10 overall. The Braves, who made 10 of 25 3-pointers and 20 of 26 free throws in the game, defeated the Pirates 59-29 on Jan. 7.
Dilan Orlando (12) and Josh Johnson (11) scored in double figures for the Pirates, who fell to 1-8 in the conference and 2-17 overall.
